Hail to the Pig who's changing Pit perceptions
Conversation today with girl at the Starbucks drive-thru.
Girl: Awwww... What kind of dog is that?
Me: Pit Bull. Her name is Piggie.
Girl: She's soooo cute.
Me: Thank you.
Girl: Has she ever been mean or anything?
Me: Never. She's super sweet. In fact, if we were in the same room she'd be laying down waiting for you to rub her belly.
Girl (to co-worker): Come look at this cute Pit Bull!

ReplyDeleteDid she at least get a biscotti?
ReplyDeletewow that warms my heart! i love people's reaction to my pittie cu all she wants to do is like them!
ReplyDeleteAll hail the sweet Pig:-) I once had a woman ask me what kind of dog our Rosie was...while she was petting her. When I told here she was a pit, she got this amazed look on her face and called for her husband "Hey honey, look at me, I'm petting a pit bull". Changing hearts & minds one meeting at a time. Rock on!
ReplyDeleteMy pit is so smart!.She hides under the covers and stays real still until her daddy will come looking for her. Just like a kid playing hide n go seek. We love her so much its scary!
ReplyDeleteSo true! People are so afraid of the word pitbull, most of them have never seen one! If its not snarling like the idiotic pictures the media shows, people don't even recognize them! I often have people meet my 2 loving pitties and say "What kind of dogs are they?" And they are always so shocked when i proudly say "pitbulls" Love my pibbleys <3
ReplyDeleteyup, piglets rule, my pibble mix cici (dalmatian and pit bull) has a pink belly and she LOVES kids and people, and mostly we get positive feedback, occasionally not, but we have a new drastic solution for those who are scared... giving the people cupcakes/cookies and telling them that it is the pits to be judged by our looks... cici's kisses and silly antics such as showing off her belly usually charms everyone though.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!! I am honored to share the wealth of pibble truth via my 11 1/2 year old TDI, TT, CGC boy, Piggly Wiggly (aka Piggy or Pig - IMAGINE!). Yaaayyyyyy for Piggie! You go girl! <3
ReplyDeleteWe love when people ask what kind of dogs they are, then realize that they're pit bulls. I think the perception is slowly changing for the better!
ReplyDeleteKeep on showing them Piggy! My name is Hope, but one of my nick names is Pigly, and the little girl I live with says I look like a chocolate covered pig! I love to meet new people and show them what a wonderful pit bull I am. You can check out me and mom's story at http://charmineshope.blogspot.com/

Love your blog. I too sleep with dogs!!! We bought a king size bed to make room for the blanket hogs. Our queen is Angel a 9 year old black lab. The boss is our grand-puppy Tater, a lab-hound mix, also black. All bedding and furniture must be dark lol! Don't you wish you could card and knit dog hair sweaters? I know I do. If there was a market for it I'd make a fortune!! You pics are adorable. Love to see the personality of the dogs shine through.
